Military stronghold in the 1638th century, property of the Cardaillacs, the fief passed successively to the BARASC and the Viscounts of CALVIGNAC. In XNUMX, bought by the barons of LAPORTE, it was transformed at the beginning of the XNUMXth century, into a holiday residence richly decorated with plasterwork decorations, painted canvas, woodwork, inlaid parquet floors.
Astonishing Italian gardens were then created, overlooked by ponds.
Raymond SUBES, a renowned ironworker, lived there for 50 years and embellished it with an exceptional gate.
Bought in 2011, the castle is the subject of a major restoration program. It is furnished and inhabited by its owners.
The visit covers the rooms on the ground floor: receptions, kitchens, vat room... and the gardens. Decorations of rare plasterwork, woodwork and painted fabrics (XNUMXth century), traditional period cuisine. The furniture is old. The decoration is faithful to the French art of living. Italian-style gardens on the terrace surmounted by four ponds fed by a spring, ornamental vegetable garden... In the absence of guests, visit of the entire castle.
