In 1924, Madeleine and Germain Pouchet managed the family-inherited wine estate. They cultivate their vines in “wine of France”. Their son Raymond Pouchet, born the same year, in turn managed the operation until 1989. A precursor in the relaunch of Malbec, he is one of the firstmiers to replant the Malbec grape variety in 1970, on the Causses du Quercy plateau. AOC, thanks to Georges Pompidou in 1971, the name became “Château des Cloutous” in 1984. Bernard Pouchet, son of Raymond, maintained the estate with a master's hand for more than 40 years. He is now training his niece Claire Pouchet, professional sommelier and fourth generation of the Pouchet family to take over the family business in 2022.
