A walk synonymous with calm and discoveryThe towpath between Albas and Luzech is one of those hidden nuggets of which only the locals know the secret. This very easily passable path, both for giants and tall adventurers, has the advantage of offering a relaxing walk full of delightful surprises!
Indeed, this quiet and little frequented path will allow you to enjoy your walk while letting your children run around and let off steam freely. Flat and well maintained, it does not require any equipment or special preparation, except possibly a simple pair of binoculars to observe the wildlife around you.
A bucolic walk in an enchanting setting
As its name suggests, the towpath runs along the river. Located in the middle of the countryside, this path connects two charming villages in the Lot valley and in the vineyards (Albas and Luzech), and crosses green and rural landscapes.

You will then be captivated by the calm of the river reflecting the surrounding places like a mirror : Albas the pretty perched on its rocky outcrop, the many trees with a proud and imposing look established along the banks, the reflection of the indigo sky punctuated by a few cumulus... The impressive variety of flowers, each more colorful than the other, will bring an almost magical dimension to this enchanting setting worthy of the most beautiful Disney films.

The wonder will continue when you will see the many creatures of the local aquatic fauna evolving in complete serenity within this preserved ecosystem. Indeed, herons, wild ducks, swallows, salamanders, frogs, trout and many other local species are likely to appear during your excursion, thus causing general amazement. A word of advice: keep your eyes (and the hatches) wide open!
Discover and understand the local territory

Along this path, you will have the opportunity to observe certain characteristic heritage elements of the Lot valley.
Indeed, during your walk you will first of all be able to observe the presence of century-old vines, at the origin of the famous "Black Wine": le Cahors Malbec. This observation will then be an opportunity to quickly explain to the youngest the process of making wine, thus preparing for a possible visit to one of our winegrowers. Continuing your walk you will notice the presence of many walnut groves. This culture thus illustrates one of the local gastronomic specialties : Périgord walnuts, which you can savor later in pie as is the tradition here!
