20 km northwest of Cahors, on a rocky outcrop, Saint-Médard dominates the valley of the Green. Along the walks, you will discover the landscapes of the Causse de Cahors, the Combe de Tresse, the cool banks of the Vert… Hills covered with pubescent oaks form the setting of this small valley. This oak is undoubtedly the most frequently used host tree for the cultivation of truffles. You should know that the vine was present on all the hillsides around the village, but phylloxera put an end to the cultivation of the vine around 1880. The plots were replanted with truffle oaks, then agricultural abandonment and the rural exodus forced to abandon truffle growing.
