In 1232, Dame Hélène, lord of justice, had a hospital and an oratory built, the upkeep of which was given to poor passers-by.
Legend has it that one day, between 1095 and the middle of the XNUMXth century, Dame Hélène de Castelnau and her servant got stuck at the bottom of a marshy valley. Dame Hélène vowed, if she got out of this mess, to devote the rest of her days to pilgrims and the poor. Having succeeded in returning to solid ground, she founded a “hospital”, a place of welcome and care for people passing through. It welcomed pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land, Saint Jacques de Compostela but also Rocamadour.
