Caillac is located about ten kilometers from Cahors on the banks of the Lot. Its hilly topology and its sunshine have favored
wine production, which is the main activity of the town. The first traces of occupation in Caillac are Gallo-Roman. There was an agricultural estate at the time. Other vestiges dot its surface and testify to a mainly agricultural occupation of the town. Until the twentieth century, Caillac was renowned for the cultivation of strawberries. Little by little, this culture was replaced by that of the vine.
