Until the end of the 19th century, before the road project crossed the village from east to west, Duravel was surrounded by ramparts.
To the north of the town, from the road to Montcabrier, beautiful remains from the 14th and 15th centuries can be seen. Having been safeguarded in 2011 and 2012, you can again admire the ramparts for one hundred and sixty meters towards the east, the walls pierced with loopholes follow the new route of the GR36.
