For several years with love and passion Mme & M Alaux have been planting, harvesting and selling their production of "Saffron" Label Rouge and IGP in progress.
Saffron is a spice that comes from a mauve-blue flower from which the deep red stigmas stand out; it is by removing the stigmas of these flowers during the harvest in October / November, then drying them that we obtain this precious spice. It is necessary to harvest 200 flowers by hand to obtain 000 kg of dry saffron.
October is the perfect month to see the flowers. Until the end of March, the foliage remains green then in April, it dries up and the wind carries a large part of it. From May, the land is bare, there is nothing to see. Finally, from May to the end of August, we uproot and replant. In conclusion, for the month of October is ideal, even if visits remain possible from November until the end of March, always by appointment.Content of the visit:
