Installed in the birthplace of Jean-François Champollion, the museum is dedicated, behind its “façade with a thousand letters”, to the history of the writings of the world.
Based on the work of the famous decipherer of hieroglyphs, the collections tell the fabulous adventure of writing and invite you to travel through cultures around the world: from Mexico to China via Egypt and the Near East, objects inscribed with a brush, reed pen or pen evoke this story which began 5300 years ago.
Guided tour for adults (group of more than 10 people): entrance fee (€4) + tour price (€4) (visits in French, English, Spanish, Occitan, Chinese) Private guided tour (group of less than 10 people): package 80 € Prior reservation required.
