From and by Alexandre Virapin / Collectif Bajour
One sleepless night, a child struggling with his doubts and anxieties discovers... Bob Marley. A revelation that will change his life. Bob and I offer a captivating journey from Kingston to Miami, via Europe and Africa, discovering the facets of Jamaica, cradle of reggae and the Rastafari movement.
During that night, we discover the story of Bob, this musical genius whose fame went beyond the borders of his small native island, Jamaica, to spread to the rest of the world. From the Bronx to Soweto, his universal message spoke to all the oppressed and those left behind.
Alone on stage, Alexandre Virapin recounts the legendary destiny of Robert Nesta Marley, his idol since always. A fan as one can be at ten years old, he reveals his boundless admiration for the king and transmits to us the liberating energy of reggae. We follow him with our eyes closed in this story of tender sincerity, which touches deep within us. Because, through Bob, the story of a myth is certainly told but also that of emancipatory struggles and the intimate quest for happiness...
