A one-night break in the Lot Valley
After a quick and efficient training on piloting our bedroom boat, here we are on the river sailing towards our home port for a floating parenthesis for one night Lot valley. It’s already a change of scenery! The landscapes pass slowly before our eyes and the adventure begins. We pass under an old railway bridge and discover the cliffs at the same time. The atmosphere is peaceful...the last visitors of the towpath greet us from the banks.
We branch off on an unnavigated arm of the Lot and we choose our home buoy because we are going to sleep in the middle of the river. We take advantage of the calm and this new setting for a few moments: here we are surrounded by cliffs with gray, white and ocher hues and abundant vegetation.
Before nightfall, a swim is a must. It's mild and we slip into the cool water with pleasure. The impression of being alone in the world as we sailed for just a few minutes. The dream ! The sunset behind the cliffs of Bouziès amazes us.
A delicious Quercy meal and a bottle of wine of Cahors await us on board. Night falls and little by little the stars light up the celestial vault. A real spectacle that we can't get enough of. We stay on deck until late. The silence is only punctuated by the singing of birds and the lapping of water.

A starry sky of pure and striking beauty! Called located within the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park, it has an astonishingly preserved sky ensuring incredible views of the stars and other celestial objects.

It's the singing of birds that wakes us up the next morning and breakfast was delivered to us by boat! We feast again and enjoy the tranquility of the morning. Suddenly kingfishers swoop around our boat along the shore a few centimeters above the water. Their blue-green wings with silver highlights allow us to identify them quickly. We are now waiting for their feedback!
At 9:30 a.m. a lock keeper awaits us at the Ganil lock on the towpath. The adventure goes on. We enter a small canal to then find the river. We continue our navigation quietly until we see the magnificent village of Saint-Cirq Lapopie. We rediscover it in a new light and its beauty always seems unreal to us.
We take our time to turn around before the next lock and its pretty mill. Quietly we return to port of Bouziès the impression of having lived outside of time...an unforgettable break.
