“Water for all” exhibition at the Maison de l’Eau

Between the Valentré bridge and the Chartreux fountain, at the foot of the hill, on the edge of the Lot, is a 1853th century building, the Maison de l'Eau. Built in XNUMX, to supply the city with drinking water using water from the Chartreux fountain, this building with its remarkable architecture is today a place of reception and exhibitions presenting the history of the Valentré bridge and drinking water at Cahors. This unusual place, which retains its original machinery, will satisfy the curiosity of all, young and old!

Program

On average 146 liters of water per person per day are consumed in France. Every day, water flows from the tap without our paying attention to it... it's when it runs out that we realize its importance.

More than ever, water is an invaluable resource. Indispensable to life, it is however not available to everyone. In the world, nearly 2 billion people do not have access to drinking water. The situation is no better concerning access to sanitation.

Faced with this reality, the obviousness of this theme is essential for a place such as the Maison de l'eau. First drinking water plant in the city of Cahors converted into a reception and exhibition space, the Maison de l'eau offers with “Water for all” an overview of water on earth. Behind the many figures found on this subject and the multiple information, the objective is above all to question: what to think of all this data? Will we soon run out of water? A discovery to make as a family to reflect together on what water represents in our lives and on the omnipresence of this blue gold in our daily lives...
