Exhibition “Water towns: seaside towns and spa towns, ideal towns” at the Maison de l’Eau

Between the Valentré bridge and the Chartreux fountain, at the foot of the hill, on the edge of the Lot, is a 1853th century building, the Maison de l'Eau. Built in XNUMX, to supply the city with drinking water using water from the Chartreux fountain, this building with its remarkable architecture is today a place of reception and exhibitions presenting the history of the Valentré bridge and drinking water at Cahors. This unusual place, which retains its original machinery, will satisfy the curiosity of all, young and old!

Program

The 19th century saw the appearance of spa towns, born from the development of leisure, transport, tourism, and the medicalization of society. If spa towns mainly have a healing function and seaside towns a preventive role, they all bear witness to this society which is organized and develops around water and leisure.
