Montcuq Song to Text Festival: François Morel

An actor trained at the École de la Rue Blanche, François Morel began his career in the troupe of Jérôme Deschamps and Macha Makeïeff and played Monsieur Morel in Les Deschiens for seven years. Since then, he has pursued a career as a director, actor for theater and cinema, but also as a singer and lyricist. In the theater, he notably plays under the direction of Michel Cerda, Tilly, Jean-Michel Ribes, Anne Bourgeois and Catherine Hiegel.
In the cinema, he works with many directors including Lucas Belvaux, Tonie Marschall, Guy Jacques, Étienne Chatiliez, Laurent Tirard, Pascal Rabaté, Noémie Lvovsky…

For 17 years, he has created his own shows: Bien des choses with Olivier Saladin, Collection Particulière directed by Jean-Michel Ribes, Instants Critiques with Olivier Saladin, Olivier Broche and Lucrèce Sassella, The end of the world is for Sunday directed by Benjamin Guillard, Hyacinthe and Rose, the concerts Le Soir des lions and La Vie (provisional title) directed by Juliette, J'ai des Doutes, to the texts of Raymond Devos.
In November 21, he created his last show All the sailors are singers with Gérard Mordillat, Romain Lemire, Antoine Sahler, Amos Mah and Muriel Gastebois.

The album La Vie, provisional title, received the Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros in 2017.

In 2019, he received the Molière for Best Actor in a Public Theater show for J'ai des Doutes as well as the SACD Humor Prize.

François Morel pays tribute to Brassens for his centenary in October 22 and sings with Yolande Moreau in the disc Brassens dans le text (Universal-Fontana).
François wrote with his son Valentin The Dictionary of Lovers of the Useless, released by Plon. The illustrated version comes out on December 22 from Grund.
The collections of France Inter chronicles are published every two years by Denoel. The complete was released on October 22 by Bouquins.
Since 2009, he has provided a weekly column on France Inter: Le Billet de François Morel.
