Roman OT Cahors SCL

The Jesuits first settled in the buildings of the old Quercy college (XNUMXth century). They modified the old chapel of Saint-Michel-des-Pauvres, which they now dedicated to Ignace de Loyola, founder of the order, and entrusted the creation of its painted decoration to two Jesuits: François Blanc and Jean Planchette.

The Jesuits built two imposing buildings, at the junction of which a large staircase with straight flights was built. In the center of the establishment, the Déclamation room has a remarkable French ceiling.

In 1676, the construction of the Toulouse-style bell tower overlooking the college was entrusted to the architect Antoine Chassagnard.
